We are a true farm-to-table company with an integrated portfolio including food processing and food brands, phosphate mining, fertilizer manufacturing, farming, ranching and cattle production, and other enterprises related to agriculture.SummaryThe Senior Tax Accountant is a vital member of Simplot's Tax Department, contributing to the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of Simplot's tax compliance and reporting processes. This position involves preparing detailed workpapers to support tax compliance, preparation of federal and state tax returns, and assisting in the domestic income tax provision process.-- The Senior Tax Accountant will oversee tax fixed asset processes and collaborate with the fixed asset accounting team to ensure proper depreciation methods and useful lives are applied. --Additionally, this role requires monitoring changes in tax legislation, researching tax issues, and providing timely responses to tax notices.-- The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, an ability to work independently with limited supervision, and a commitment to enhancing the efficiency and accuracy of current processes.Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review federal, state, and local corporate income tax returns.
• Oversee tax fixed asset processes, including tax depreciation methods/lives, tax bonus depreciation, coordination with fixed asset accounting team, and JDE/SAP system maintenance.
• Prepare detailed workpapers to support federal and state income tax compliance, including book to tax adjustments, state apportionment, and quarterly estimates.
• Support the annual domestic income tax provision process through preparation of tax adjustments and deferred tax calculations.
• Monitor and analyze domestic tax law changes and quantify the impact on Simplot's operations and cash flow.
• Research and prepare responses to tax notices.
• Assist with special tax projects, including mergers and acquisitions.--Typical Education
  • BA/BS in Accounting or Tax required; Master's degree a plus.Relevant Experience
    • 2-5 Years of public accounting or large corporate tax experience (CPA, a plus).
    • Proficient in federal and state corporate tax laws and regulations (specific industry knowledge, a plus).
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and tax software applications; experience with SAP/CFIN is a plus.
    • Hands-on experience with OneSource Income Tax is a plus.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Detail-oriented, with ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment in problem resolution.
